What is TimeScales?
Biological systems uniquely integrate mechanical processes across time scales, from millisecond-level ion channel activation to epigenetic changes lasting days. Despite advancements in nanoscale microscopy and spatiotemporal genomics, research integrating temporal dynamics into mechanobiology remains in its early stages, creating critical gaps in understanding how rapid molecular mechanochemical signals shape long-term tissue development and disease. In this website, we establish a hierarchical temporal framework covering membrane mechanosensing, cytoskeletal mechanical adaptation, and nuclear mechanical responses. We showcase the different time scales of various cells and compile a temporal map of mechanobiological processes. This website aims to provide comprehensive temporal scale data to help researchers identify key frontiers.
